French Regency mantelpiece hand-carved in Estaillades stone

This beautiful fireplace in natural stone is crafted by hand in our stone-cutting atelier in the South of France (in Provence) and carved in a white limestone extracted from our quarries in Provence, the stone of Estaillades.

This large mantel in stone, an original creation by Alain Bidal, is the reissue of a classic French Regency mantelpiece.

The wide shelf is finely molded and follows perfectly the movement of the lintel. The later is low-arch and beautifully carved with a  central shell and some cartridges with geometric carvings. Its features beautifully rounded angles embellished with sculpted shells. The jambs are curved at the top and animated with moldings, scrolls and hand-carved shells. An opulent mold is sculpted around the whole hearth opening.
