Exceptional Louis XIII mantelpiece with 2-tiers trumeau in carved limestone
This stunning fireplace with trumeau in stone is the re-issue of a classic Louis XIII mantelpiececrafted in Provence by Alain Bidal and his team of experienced stone-cutters. It is carved by hand in the white local limestone, the stone of Estaillades.
The mantelpiece stands out by its dimensions (2,85 meters tall) but also by its impressive 2-tiers trumeau.
The intermediate part between the 2 molded tablets is monolithic and beautifully carved with a rectangular frame engraved in its center and, on each side, a pattern sculpted in the shape of a volute.
The upper part of the overmantel is also very elaborate : a molded embossed framework in the center, concave angles on the side and a slight widening at the base of the hood.
The shape of the angles inside the hearth draw a convex portion. An opulent mold frames the hearth opening (below the lintel and on the inside of both jambs). This mold shows the same convex curves.
Finally, the drip ledge overlooking the whole fireplace is very finely worked with its lower part beautifully serrated.
A charming and stylish fireplace in stone that will bring character to your home !
