Limestone fireplace with trumeau - transition Louis XV / Louis XVI
This fireplace with trumeau is entirely carved by hand by our craftsmen stonemasons in our atelier located in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, in Provence. it is carved in the stone of Estaillades, a natural limestone from Provence.
This mantelpiece in stone is inspired but the transitional style between the reign of the French kings Louis XV and Louis XVI.
It is characterized by a combination of curves and cons-curves and rectilinear geometric engravings (typical of the Louis XVI style). The Louis XV style, meanwhile, is represented by the wide moldings that runs all along the hearth opening and the hood carved with a molded oval medallion.
The large tablet can serve as a console (ideal for decorative items).
A beautifully rounded and molded overhanging cornice finishes this beautiful set.
The elegance of this fireplace is also due to the fact that all the edges and outside corners are rounded. Those of the hood are even engraved with fine vertical cartridges.
