Carved limestone fireplace, a reissue of a classic French Regency mantel

This beautiful stone fireplace is a fine example of a classic French Regency mantelpiece (1715-1723).

Carved by hand in the white limestone of Provence "Estaillades", this mantel is hand-crafted in our stone-cutting atelier located in the heart of Provence, in Isle sur la Sorgue.

Its low-arch lintel is carved with cartridges decorated with various geometric patterns. The jambs are curvy at the top and animated with hand-sculpted twirls, shells and plants. The hearth line features an opulent molding that continues along both jambs. The tablet is finely molded and underlines perfectly the movement of the lintel.
